SUMMER BASKETBALL CAMP

The Brothers of Kelly Park (“B.O.K.”) Summer Basketball Camp will be held outdoors at Kelley Park, 15825 Oakfield Ave., Detroit, MI 48227, beginning June 11, 2025 and ending August 22, 2025 from 8am to 12pm, Monday through Friday.
The camp will be open to boys and girls ages 6 to 14, whose families meet the low to moderate income levels. We are aiming to register 50 campers per day, each week, providing free breakfast at 8am and free lunch at 11:30am.
B.O.K. Summer Basketball Camp is a program that provides an intensive basketball training experience for young athletes to improve their basketball skills during the summer months, in a structured environment. The camp includes basketball drills, scrimmages and competitions as well as teaching the importance of nutritious meals, rest, hydration and proper stretching.

Fun is a crucial element in youth sports. We strongly believe in integrating fun into our basketball camp. - ball handling, improving dribbling, passing and hand-eye coordination
- defense, learning defensive footwork, positioning and anticipation
- game tactics, learning offensive and defensive schemes, such as pick-and-roll plays and zone defense
- competitive contests, such as free throws, knockout, 3 vs 3, 5 v 5 and half-court games at the end of each day.

Rebuilding Detroit Construction Apprenticeship Program
Through our economic development programs and anti-recidivism programs, we seek to create jobs and improve access to affordable housing. We offer a construction apprenticeship program and vocational education programs for men and women ages 16 and older, who may be reentering and returning to the workforce. We’re seeking to renovate properties to provide housing for adult and elderly care and emergency, temporary shelter. In this construction and demolition apprenticeship program, students learn a variety of essential skills for both building and safely dismantling structures. This program aims to provide hands-on, on the job experience and theoretical knowledge, preparing students for careers in the construction and demolition industries. These skills include:
- Basic Construction Techniques: Understanding how to use tools and materials to construct buildings, including framing, roofing, and installing fixtures
- Safety Practices: Learning industry-standard safety protocols to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment
- Demolition Techniques: Skills for safely dismantling structures, including the use of specialized heavy equipment and techniques to minimize hazards
- Blueprint Reading: Understanding architectural and engineering drawings to follow construction plans accurately
- Material Handling: Learning how to properly handle, store and dispose of construction materials, including hazardous waste
- Equipment Operation: Training in the safe operation of construction machinery and tools, such as cranes, forklifts, and power tools
Fit and Active Programs
We provide healthcare activities throughout the year. We are in the planning stages of operating a sports rehabilitation center in the near future. We offer a series of outdoor healthcare activities, like yoga, aerobics, and other exercise activities utilizing the outdoor fitness equipment and walking trails available at Kelley Park, including fitness programs for seniors.
Culinary Arts Vocational Training
In our Culinary Arts Vocational Training Programs, students learn a variety of skills and knowledge related to food preparation and kitchen management. Overall, the program aims to equip students with both practical skills and theoretical knowledge to succeed in the culinary field. This includes:
- Basic Cooking Techniques: Students learn how to use different cooking methods like boiling, grilling, roasting and sauteing.
- Knife Skills: Proper techniques for cutting, chopping, and slicing ingredients safely and efficiently.
- Food Safety and Sanitation: Learning about hygiene standards, safe food handling practices, and preventing cross-contamination
- Menu Planning and Nutrition: Understanding how to create balanced menus and the nutritional aspects of different ingredients.
- Culinary Arts and Presentation: Techniques for plating and presenting dishes attractively.
